Blackout Curtains is proud to be an industry leader in safety regulations for our custom window coverings and commercial blackout curtains. Our team has been working for over 45 years to ensure our products uphold the highest standards for safety; this means always thinking about possible regulations and legislative initiatives when creating our products.
New Window Coverings Legislation from US Consumer Product Safety Commission
In November 2022, CPSC approved new federal safety standards for custom window coverings to prevent deaths and severe injuries from strangulation.
They stated, “In an effort to reduce the risk of strangulation deaths and serious life-threatening injuries to children from corded window coverings, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted today, by a vote of 4 to 0, to approve a new federal safety standard for operating cords on custom window coverings. Custom window coverings include shades, blinds, curtains, drapery, or other cord-operated products, created to a consumer’s specifications. The Commission also approved a new federal safety rule that added non-compliant window covering cords to CPSC’s substantial product hazard list.”
Commercial Blackout Curtains
The risk of strangulation from Blackout Curtain products is minimal compared to other brands within the industry. This is because our curtains do not contain cords and our roller shades have always remained compliant with federal legislation. At Blackout Curtains, our vendors are constantly educating themselves and staying up to date on the latest government and safety regulations.
Our products are trusted across many industries and have been installed in children’s hospitals, health clinics, laboratories, arenas, and other commercial spaces. We stand behind our products and can ensure we will always do our best to remain safe and reliable.
Additional Safety Features from Blackout Curtains
